Planning my business - the beginning

This past weekend I spent alot of time thinking and organizing my thoughts.  One of my biggest challenges is taking all my thoughts and coming up with a logical set of plans to follow.  For the most part (and I am sure there are others out there like me), I come up with tons of ideas; crafts that I wants to create, recipes I want to cook up and new flowers I need to grow and I do succeed in these areas and post a blog about a new craft I created or take a picture of a stunning flower that grew.  But this weekend I had a goal and that was to bring all this together in some type of structure so I can follow along as I create my business.  So my first step was looking at what I have already out there on the internet and bringing that together with my website that I am developing.  I published the website (that was a first step) using the 5 pages I had in the package I purchased.  Developing the pages and content and bringing that together with my existing blogs helped me focus on some type of end result.

Here is my thought process - the 5 pages each have a topic and each topic has a purpose.  The key in this development process was to answer the question "What and where will I really make money?"  I can invent or develop a line of something, I can produce something disposable (used up and ordered again), I can also invite the internet public to join me and share.  I need to make sure the website has good content and brings people back to it and I need to use the marketing tools already out on the internet in an organized fashion.  Whatever I decide upon I need to research and become an expert on (since the topics are genuine interests this should be enjoyable).  Involved in the research the question "Is there a market for your item/idea?" needs to be answered.

A great feature with this website is the Social page where I can showcase many of my other sites on here; such as my Flickr account (photos), my Twitter tweets, my favorite websites and quite a bit more which I need to discover.  This was a deciding factor in choosing this website company - I recalled an email I had received and it said I loved your blog and then started clicking around at all your other links and ....... got lost.  Time and time I have done that myself.  I start out reading an interesting post and start clicking on the links nearby or the other topics and I find myself an hour or two later ....... full of information, but I have no clue where I started at.  Along with using Twitter and Facebook to connect with like minded people, I need to scope out some of these interesting online communities.

So I have my organizing in place and a list of notes detailing what I need to do next.  (Always carry a pencil and pad of paper with you ... always).  I also made up file folders for each Topic on my website and folders for interesting tidbits.  When I see something in a magazine or I write up some notes, I can file them in the folder until I need them.

On the top of my list is a note to Join Affiliates.
